The quiet north

North of the highways, Mississauga stops trying to be a city and settles into being a collection of family suburbs. Meadowvale, Lisgar and Churchill Meadows are where the family money goes: newer detached homes, good schools, parks within a stroller’s reach, and the kind of quiet that people with kids quietly rank above almost everything else.

The range up here is wider than it looks. Meadowvale, with its older planned-community bones and a conservation area on the doorstep, is the value end. Churchill Meadows and Lisgar are the newer, more established family premium — bigger homes, newer everything, priced accordingly.

What you trade for all that space is the lake and the walkable main street. This is a car-first rhythm — school runs, the 401 and 403, and Meadowvale GO for the commute downtown. For a lot of families, that trade is the entire point: more house, more yard, more room to grow.
